Nkunku Gives Green Light to Leipzig Return as Milan Set €35 Million Price
Christopher Nkunku is reportedly open to returning to RB Leipzig, giving the German club a major boost in its efforts to bring the French forward back to where he previously made a name for himself. AC Milan are prepared to part ways with the attacker for a fee in the region of €35 million, with a loan deal that includes either an option or an obligation to buy also being considered.
Nkunku's future at Milan has become increasingly uncertain following the arrival of new head coach Ruben Amorim. The Frenchman is believed to be outside the manager's preferred plans, making an exit before the summer transfer window closes a realistic possibility. Leipzig have emerged as the leading candidate for his signature, while Premier League side Newcastle United have also been linked with a potential move.
The player's willingness to return to Leipzig could prove decisive in the negotiations. Milan and Leipzig are expected to continue discussions over the financial structure of the transfer, with the Italian club maintaining a valuation between €33 million and €35 million. Both sides are reportedly exploring a loan arrangement that could eventually lead to a permanent transfer.
Nkunku joined Milan from Chelsea for an initial €37 million plus additional bonuses and currently earns around €5 million net per season. His first campaign in Serie A produced seven goals and three assists across 32 league appearances, while he also added another goal in the Coppa Italia. Although his numbers were respectable, they have apparently not been enough to secure a regular place in Amorim's plans.
A return to Leipzig could offer Nkunku the chance to revive a chapter of his career that previously brought him considerable success. For Milan, the potential departure would allow the club to reshape its attacking options while recovering a significant portion of its investment. With Leipzig pushing to bring the forward back and Milan standing firm on their valuation, the coming negotiations could determine whether Nkunku returns to Germany before the transfer window closes.
