Harry Kane Crowned Germany's Player of the Year After Sensational 61-Goal Campaign
Harry Kane has been named Germany's Player of the Year for 2026 after producing another remarkable season with Bayern Munich. The England striker was rewarded for a campaign in which he scored 61 goals across all competitions, playing a major role in Bayern's continued dominance both domestically and in the early stages of the new season.
Kane was instrumental in helping Bayern retain the Bundesliga title and claim the German Cup. His contribution in the cup competition was particularly impressive, as he scored a hat trick in the final to underline his importance to the Bavarian side. His prolific scoring record made him one of the standout performers in German football throughout the season.
The striker also began the new campaign with another trophy as Bayern defeated Borussia Dortmund 2-1 in the German Supercup. Although Kane did not find the net in that match, his overall performances continued to strengthen his reputation as one of the most influential players in the Bundesliga. His consistency in front of goal has made him a central figure in Bayern's success.
Kane received 272 votes from 659 members of the Association of German Sports Journalists in the annual poll organized by Kicker magazine. He finished ahead of Bayern teammate Michael Olise, who collected 203 votes, while Deniz Undav, Joshua Kimmich, and Oliver Baumann completed the next positions. The result reflects the significant impact Kane has made since establishing himself in German football.
Vincent Kompany also received major recognition after being named Germany's Coach of the Year. The Bayern manager secured almost half of the votes, moving ahead of Freiburg coach Julian Schuster, who won the award the previous year. Kane's achievement adds his name to a prestigious list of past winners that includes Franz Beckenbauer, while Kompany continues to build his own reputation after guiding Bayern through another highly successful period.
