Vinícius Sent Off for Pulling Opponent’s Hair! Official: Real Madrid Star Handed 4-Match Ban, to Miss El Clásico

The Spanish Football Federation has officially announced that Vinícius Júnior has been handed a four-match suspension. He will therefore miss Real Madrid’s El Clásico against Barcelona in La Liga’s Matchday 10!

Disciplinary Committee Ruling
- Vinícius Júnior suspended for four matches
- Vinícius was shown a straight red card in the 73rd minute of Real Madrid’s match against Villarreal.

Real Madrid appealed the decision, arguing that:
- Vinícius did not deliberately pull his opponent’s hair.
- His hand accidentally made contact with the opponent’s hair and headband during the challenge.
- The match was still in progress, and there was a possibility of both players contesting possession.
- His protests after being sent off should not be punished separately.

However, the Disciplinary Committee ultimately rejected Real Madrid’s appeal.

The committee ruled that:
- Video footage clearly showed Vinícius pulling his opponent’s hair.
- The committee also determined that:
- The incident occurred when the players were not actively contesting possession.
- The action constituted violent conduct outside a genuine contest for the ball.

After being sent off, Vinícius continued to protest vehemently against the referee and had to be restrained by his teammates.

Therefore, under the Spanish Football Federation’s disciplinary regulations:

Penalty 1:
Vinícius suspended for two matches for “violent conduct when not contesting possession of the ball.”
Basis: Article 130.2 of the Disciplinary Regulations.

Penalty 2:
Vinícius suspended for two matches for protesting against the referee after being sent off.
Basis: Article 127 of the Disciplinary Regulations.
Final decision: Vinícius receives a four-match suspension in total.
